I imagine you have a few questions that need answering about speaking, connected speech and pronunciation, so let's go through some.

"Firstly, what is pronunciation and why do I need it?"

Well, pronunciation is the sum of everything that you say. You need sounds to make words and then you need to connect those sounds and words in sentences.

Now, you might be shy because of your strong accent. That's ok though! You need to understand how to change it.

You might not be very fluent in English. That's ok too! I will show you how you can speak faster and more naturally by connecting your speech with the techniques I'll show you.

You might not understand native speakers very well. It's ok! I speak with a British accent and I'm trained to speak so you understand me. Also, by listening to me more and more often you will notice the features of connected speech I use in everyday English. Your listening skills will improve, as well as your speaking and pronunciation!

What separates you and your course from other instructors and courses?

So, firstly, I was born in England. I'm a real British native speaker. Secondly, I'm highly qualified (including Cambridge Delta - considered the highest teaching qualification for Teaching English as a Foreign Language). Thirdly, I specialise in speaking and pronunciation and I work at a very prestigious language school, so I get the best development possible.

Now, I have created this course on connected speech by selecting the most important areas to focus on. Plus, we start off with looking at the alphabet and phonemic chart - both very important on a course in pronunciation. On top of that, each module is named after a famous English city and there is a page of background information on each place. We start in Brighton and finish in Brighton after a virtual trip around England. That makes my course unique and a little special! Finally, I have made learning about connected speech interesting and fun, with lots of different activities for you to try.

Jon Green Teachable British Native Speaker

About Jon

Hello! I'm Jon and I'm an English Language Instructor who just loves technology to help me in my life. That's why I thought it would be perfect for me to create online courses.

I created this course to show just how people in London or Brighton speak. Not the English from textbooks, but what people really say when they are talking. I think getting pronunciation natural and right is the key to this. I also want to show that speaking and sounds are all connected - that's why my course is called Everything's Connected!
